Santa Boosts Consumer Confidence Index

The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index, which surged nearly 15 points in November, increased another nine points in December. Tupac Shakur's 1991 sex tape is officially off the market – Celebrity Gossip has learned, the XXX footage has been sold to a private collector.

Sources connected to the deal tells us, the former tape owner decided not to sell to a big company out of principle -- claiming the corporate porn fat cats were "parasites."

No word on what it sold for ... but as we previously reported, bids for the background music alone -- an original, unreleased Tupac track -- had reached $1,000,000.

Maybe next time, folks ... though we wouldn't hold our breath -- a rep for the Tupac estate tells us, it plans to block any future sale of the tape ... and make sure the tape never sees the light of day.

Celebrity Heidi & Spencer REJECT ‘Relationship Rehab’

Special News - Now this is painful – Celebrity Gossip has learned, "Relationship Rehab" producers approached Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt to work out their issues on the show ... and the couple flat-out rejected their offer.

Speidi's reasoning -- they're actually on great terms ... and don't have any issues to work out.

Coming Soon Next Big Superhero Movie: Avengers vs. X-Men

One, as the upcoming Avengers movie demonstrates, Marvel is not a company adverse to all-star, big-screen team-ups.

Two, the promo picture for the Avengers-X-Men comic, formally titled Avengers vs. X-Men, features a Hawkeye who looks a lot more like the new Jeremy Renner version than the traditional, mask-wearing version.

Put 'em both together, and is it really, truly crazy talk to ask if Marvel's laying the groundwork for an Avengers vs. X-Men multiplex extravaganza?
A Marvel rep didn't respond to an email seeking comment.

Jim Littler, cofounder of ComicBookMovie.com, meanwhile, didn't dismiss Conspiracy Corner's inquiry or its inquiring mind. Well, not immediately anyway.  
"Marvel is indeed leveraging their comics to tie into the movies, which they see as they natural evolution of the industry," Littler said in an email. "But Fox is still the franchise owner of the X-Men movies."

And, yes, Disney is still the franchise owner of The Avengers movies.
While rival studios work together occasionally—see: Donald Duck and Daffy Duck sharing the stage in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?—the key word is occasionally.
With Fox actively working X-Men angles, and Disney just beginning with The Avengers, "I believe it is still wishful thinking at this point," Littler concluded of an all-star, big-screen team-up.
Make that, wishful geekish thinking.

For family emergency Selena Gomez Cancels Concerts

Celebrity Gossip - Selena Gomez has pulled the plug on two holiday-themed concerts scheduled for tonight and tomorrow.

Her rep says Selena is OK, instead citing a "family emergency" as the reason for the abrupt cancellation.

However, a source close to the situation tells me that Gomez's mother, Mandy, suffered a miscarriage yesterday. Gomez announced on Twitter late last month that her mom and stepdad, Brian Teefey, were expecting their first child together.

The Wizards of Waverly Place starlet was set to perform tonight at the B96 Jingle Bash 2011 at the Allstate Arena outside of Chicago and tomorrow at 106.1 KISS FM's Jingle Bell Bash at the WaMu Theater in Seattle. The entire Seattle show has now been postponed, because OneRepublic also had to cancel with frontman Ryan Tedder ordered by doctors to go on vocal rest.

"Hell yeah. I’d love to do more action films. I was always athletic as a child, so for me it’s fun to run and jump and get physical. I love all of that. Singer Justin Bieber Donates $100k to Whitney Elementary School

Celebrity Gossip - Making good on his promise, Justin Bieber made his way to Whitney Elementary School in Las Vegas yesterday (December 16), where the pop phenom performed a holiday concert and donated much needed funds.

Making for quite the special performance, the 17-year-old belted out acoustic versions of the songs from his current Christmas album including his hit track "Mistletoe."

However, the Biebs did more than offer up his vocal talents, he also cut the struggling school a check for $100,000 - a gift he pledged to make while on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" last month.

Additionally, Justin showered the kids - most of whom are homeless - with another $100,000 of presents. After completing his good deed, the "Baby" singer tweeted, writing, “Thank you las vegas and thank you @theellenshow for a day I will never forget. #giveback."

Sexy Celebrity Katy Perry Remixes “The One That Got Away” with B.O.B

Celebrity News - Treating her fans to a revamped version of her hit single, Katy Perry enlisted the help of B.o.B. for a just-released remix of “The One That Got Away".

The original version comes from 27-year-old Miss Perry's album Teenage Dream, with Capitol Records having submitted the B.o.B featuring rendition to radio for airplay while expected to make it available for purchase next week.

Aside from ushering out new music, Katy is fresh off of being crowned as MTV's 2011 Artist of the Year thanks to a spectacular chart-topping past twelve months.

Of the accolade, Perry appreciatively told in a video message (watch below), "I just want to say thank you for this amazing award. To be Artist of the Year, a whole 365 days, that's pretty cool. I wasn't really allowed to watch MTV growing up, so this feels really validating."

Sherlock Holmes Star Jude Law Dishes Drunken Curtain Call

Celebrity Gossip - Making a stop at the Ed Sullivan Theatre to promote his "Sherlock Holmes" sequel, Jude Law appeared as the guest on the "Late Show with David Letterman" on Friday night (December 16).

The hunky British actor plugged his just-released motion picture while also telling a story of how he was tricked into getting drunk during the last night of performing in the stage production of Eugene O'Neill's "Anna Christie".

Recalling the eventful evening, Law told, "On the last night, the last scene. There's a lot of talk in this play about drinking and fighting and, um, in the last scene the father of Anna - who has been my kind of nemesis throughout - finally confronts me and we decide to put our differences aside and he had this big bottle of whiskey and we'd swig it and throughout the run I'd be taking [makes gulping motion] huge glugs of this stuff and it's water you know. And of course on the last night, he brings out a bottle of whiskey, unbeknownst to me. The biggest lesson I learned is that you don't really drink whiskey like that [gulps again]. Because when I did, when I did... yeah."

Enjoying the story, Letterman then asked, "Did it good or bad bring something to the performance?"
Laughing as he answered, Jude replied, "I don't remember... All I remember is the last night and the party afterwards went fantastic."

Box Office Top Movie “Sherlock Holmes”

Celebrity Gossip - Comfortably positioned atop the pack, "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" shot to the number one spot at the box office over the weekend of December 16-18, 2011.

The Guy Ritchie directed sequel starring Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr pulled in $16 million on Friday while expected to garner a total of $42.4 million during its first weekend of release.

Situated in the runner-up slot is a fellow theatrical newcomer, as family friendly film "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked" nabbed $7.1 million during its opening night in cinemas while trending towards an approximate $25.8 million weekend take.

Rounding out the top five at the box office in estimated weekend totals are the Tom Cruise spearheaded action caper "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" ($12.1 million), followed by the star-laden ensemble picture "New Year's Eve" ($7.7 million) and vampire blockbuster "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1" ($4.2 million).

Also of note, the just-released Charlize Theron dark comedy "Young Adult" finds itself in the tenth position while on track to close out opening weekend with $3.6 million.

The "Top Gun" stud lovingly held his "Mad Money" wife's hand as the pair trekked over to a local dance studio while braving the wintry east coast weather.
The outing comes as Tom just recently returned to the States following an overseas press tour for his upcoming film "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol".

Of the motion picture, Cruise's co-star Jeremy Renner recently spoke to Movie Line about what he learned from the Hollywood legend.
Renner dished, "He and I have the same work ethic but his just resonates on a higher level because he has done so many action movies and this was just my first one. He set a really high bar for me, which is great, because now the bar is high for the next three action movies that I’ll do."
He added, "I was willing. I trained so that I was able. Tom really got me on a regimen program so I would not get injured. He gave me an analogy that working on these movies was like working as a professional athlete. I took it a step further thinking that in any professional sport, there is a second string that comes in if you get injured. But in cinema, there isn’t a second string Ethan Hunt that rolls in. So we can’t get hurt. Most of the training, outside of learning a discipline like wire practice, was not getting injured.

Because you’re doing things on a wire that your body just isn’t used to doing. It’s all about preparation. It was never a competition or anything — he just set a really high bar to live up to and I gave it a go."

Following a young lawyer named Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe), the story takes place in a client’s home where Kipps works alone and begins to discover tragic secrets.
After catching a glimpse of a mysterious woman dressed in black, Arthur finds himself trying to uncover the identity of the female, which leads to a race against time when he discovers her true intent.

Celebrity Gossip - Offering up their take on the best in music over the past twelve months, MTV has debuted their rundown of the Top 25 songs from 2011.

Perched atop the pack is the chart-topping "Rolling In the Deep" from Adele while the single "Vomit" from Girls nabbed runner-up honors with Jay-Z and Kanye West's "N---as in Paris" taking third.

Other big names landing spots in the Top 25 included Lady Gaga, Beyoncé Knowles, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna.
Going in depth about their pick of Adele's "Rolling In the Deep" as the top tune of the year, MTV wrote, "Not only the song of the year, it's also quite possibly the song of our time, which is an odd thing to say, considering "Deep" is about as artfully anachronistic as popular music gets: a crackling, breathy thing that roils along on little more than a stubby guitar and some primal pounding, it positively roars to life the second the chorus hits, powered entirely by Adele's prodigious pipes. No Auto-Tune, no mention of partying or material excess (and not even a single Will Ferrell sample), "Deep" is a throwback in every conceivable way to a time when artists actually sang (and sang about real, genuine emotions like sadness and anger), when a single could push an album for months and months at a time and, most of all, when people still bought music. And despite all that, it was still the crossover smash to end all crossover smashes, the song that not only dominated 2011, but defined it, too. Sort of gives you hope ... or makes you realize we truly are living in the strangest of times."
