My New Summer Hat

My friend Kathy of Foodiebia recently posted a pic of a bunch of J.Crew boxes. Being the nosey friend I am, I needed to know everything she bought, just in case I needed some of those things for myself. Yes, we often buy things the other has bought, but it's so nice to have someone test things out for you! I'm pretty sure our closets are half exactly the same. But she's all the way in San Francisco, so it's not really an issue unless we're visiting the other person, in which case a little coordination is necessary.

Anyways, what I'm saying is, she told me stuff she bought and I actually didn't need most of it (suits, light jacket, swimsuits), but I absolutely needed this hat:

As a funemployed housewife, I do a lot of walking around outside at peak sun times, and I'd rather not burn my face into a crisp and look like a wrinkled prune by the time I'm 30. A cute hat was totally necessary. Only problem: my head is GIANT. Seriously. So between my giant head and my full head of big ol' curly hair, the above panama hat was on the snug side. It would have worked, but I hate snug hats, they give me headaches. Then I decided, hey, why not try a men's hat. And I did. And I loved it.

I walked out with this hat:

It's a little big on me, but I'd much rather have some room than have it be snug. What do you think?

And unlike my other random things I buy, Mr. EWP loves my hat! Every time we leave the house he's like, "don't forget your hat!" :)
