There were definitely three themes for the night: white, aubergine, and texture. I enjoyed all of them to varying degrees. Let the Emmy dress judging begin!

The hair is a TOTAL mess. Total utter mess. I have curly hair and would never ever let myself go anywhere with it looking like such a bird nest, especially not an awards show. I like white on the red carpet, especially on such a hot day as they had, but this one really didn't do it for me. I thought Kim Kardashian (see below) actually did it much better. I think she dressed her curvy figure very well with a super cinched waist with embellishment - drawing focus to her narrowest part. It's like she's been reading my blog! Plus extra points for looking as young and fresh as she is. Not too crazy of hair and not too much makeup or jewelry. Eek, floral prints like this do not belong on the red carpet. It looks like the bottom of her dress got dragged through some mud. What was Toni thinking? C-

Ms. Fey has had some serious misses on the red carpet over the years, but I have to give it to her this time, I like this. I wouldn't like it on everyone, but I do enjoy it on her. B+
Sofia Vergara in a saffron embroidered strapless Carolina Herrera gown and Lorraine Schwartz canary gold jewelry.
Sofia Vergara is a stunning and beautiful woman. Unfortunately this dress doesn't really show that off. It's just so strange with it's zigzagging middle and yellow hue. Not a fan. C-

Padma Lakshmi is a gorgeous human being. I love navy on her. I'm undecided about that crazy necklace, but I'll let it slide because she's hot. B
Olivia Munn in a Zac Posen gown and Bulgari jewels.
BOOOOOOOOOOOORING. Hate the color. and the bodice is too low on her. I fear that her boobs will pop out at any given moment. C-

What a gorgeous way to make your Emmys debut. Then followed by a dance number on stage. I think I might be in love with this Nina Dobrev character. A

With the midnight blue color and the oomph of rufflage, this dress screamed EWP. I was destined to be in love with it, but all I could think about was how similar it looked to the blue dress she wore to the Golden Globes last year. Docking points for lack of creativity. A-
Kyra Sedgwick in a Monique Lhuillier gown and Ofira jewels.
I'm enjoying the color, and actually okay with the texture to a degree, but somewhere between the concept of the dress and actually putting it on Kyra, something goes wrong I feel. I just don't think she looks nice. Maybe it's the hair. Maybe it's that lipstick color. I dunno, I'm just not for it. C+

I usually think Kim Kardashian looks like a trashy hooker, but she looked positively beautiful and ethereal in this soft and romantic gown. This is what Rose Byrne wishes she looked like at the Emmys. A+

I love that she added a flower to her hair. I'm all about flowers in my hair these days. I also love the soft pastel on a night of darker gowns. I just can't seem to get behind the weird circley things hanging from it. Is that just me? B-

This dress was my absolute FAVORITE of the night. Just so elegant and gorgeous. Everything glamorous in just one gown. Love. A+
