Golden Globes 2012: Madeleine Stowe

I love Revenge and Madeleine Stowe is just wickedly delicious on it.  So I was inclined to like whatever she wore.  I admit, I have biases.  But then I looked again and I wasn't on board with the weird middle ruffle.  or that back ruffle.

I apparently have a lot of girl crushes because I have one on Paula Patton.  She's gorgeous and married to Robin Thicke.  Need I say more?  Not many people can pull of a BRIGHT yellow gown, but she did.  My hats off to her.

Golden Globes 2012: Viola Davis

Viola Davis kicked ass in this one shouldered Grecian gown namely because of two things: 1) the color is perfect for her, 2) she has some sick arms.  Seriously, she may be my new arm crush.  Sorry, Mrs. O.  I just don't like the very high slit.

This grey gown could have looked good if a) it was not a wrinkly mess, b) it was well-constructed enough not to pucker ALL THE WAY DOWN THE FRONT AND BACK of the dress.  WHAT IS THAT????

Now those are some well done sleeves - sparkly, fitted, sexy.  I'm loving this emerald gown on Ms. Dern. Well done, Ms. D, well done.

This made it on some worst dressed lists, but I actually super love it.  The peter pan collar is just a little bit of extra fun I wasn't expecting. And the colors look great on her.

Man, Zac Posen was really off at the Globes.  Like Reese's dress, this dress too is ridiculous.  She is a beautiful, gorgeous, statuesque woman.  And this is what she wore.  Her hair looks super gorgeous though. I just want to pet it.

This dress looks great on her.  And the makeup is flawless.  I just wish it had more color.  It's too well matched to her skin.  She could be naked.

I feel like there are much more interesting and flattering dresses available for plus sized women.  Yes, they're harder to come by, but with a stylist and a bunch of money, I think you can find them.  This dress is an olive tent of sadness.

For a night where she won an award, you'd think she'd have worn something with more umph.  The cut is very flattering for this full-figured woman, but the color is too washed out, she needed something a little more richer, maybe a nice jewel tone.

I think Jessica Chastain is gorgeous.  Her smile just goes on forever.  She was my new crush of 2011.  But this be-pearled number she chose just fell flat for me.  Redheads deserve more color than this.

Why do pretty girls do this to themselves?  Do they feel guilty for the gifts they've been giving?  Is this some sort of self-punishment? A subconscious effort to atone for their looks?  There must be some explanation because this happens WAY TOO MUCH.  Everyone should fire their stylists and just hire me.

I like a big poofy princess skirt as much as the next gal, but a see through one that lights the background lights shine through? Blech-o! And the color is much too sad for a princess dress.

I enjoy a sleeve. And I like this dress in theory.  The shape is fantastic.  The fabric, however, did not translate well and it looks all stiff and rumply.
