Lions, Tigers, & Bears! Oh My!

Y'all, I am way in love with animal prints right now.  I don't mean the leopard/zebra/snake-type animal prints.  Those I'm not fond of to be honest.  They just seem cheapy.  What I'm talking about is prints that are animals - like birds and horses and such.  I'm totally in love with an animal pattern.  The smaller the print, the better.  The more geometric, the even better.

Today I share my love of animal prints, or prints of animals rather, with all of you.  Try out one of the options below and bring a fun little critter into your life wardrobe!

The Top I Spent Too Much On (Also a Tunics Post)

It didn't make any sense to do a leggings post, without following it up with a tunics post. I mean, what on earth were you going to wear on top of those leggings? And of course I am here to help.

But first, let's discuss my new favorite tunic ever. And how I spent way too much money on it. One day last week, on the way home from dinner, Mr. EWP and I stopped into Pea in the Pod to pick me up a tunic or two to go with all my new leggings I was totally in love with. We didn't know this before we went in, but apparently the Pea in the Pod on Oak Street is the super chi chi fancy pants designer Pea in the Pod and nothing in the store is under $150. Oops.

That, however, didn't stop me from trying on, no exaggeration, 24 tops. All the while Mr. EWP sat and waited for me to actually like one. And then I did. I fell in love with one particular tunic, and walked out of the dressing room. Mr. EWP liked it too but wanted me to try on the fake bump to make sure it'd fit down the road. And OMG, after I put on that fake bump I'm pretty sure I could have gotten Mr. EWP to agree to buying every single item in that store. He was totally in love. But I decided to be reasonable (depending on your definition) and only walked out with this:

Yes, I'm fully aware it's way too much money for a maternity top. But I was totally in love with it. And both Mr. EWP and I envision me wearing it post-pregnancy with a big wide belt. It could happen. And it'd be super cute.

But for the non-preggo set, here are some tunic options just for you:

Hello, My Name is EWP, and I'm a Leggings Convert

I have always been vehemently against leggings. I guess I had seen one too many trashy starlets wearing them as pants with short little shirts and showing off her ladybits. Leggings are NOT pants. This created an aversion in me so strong, that I never ever considered them for me.

But a few weeks ago I met up with my friend, and fellow preggo, Andrea of Basic Boutique and she looked absolutely adorable in a pair of leggings and a big flowy tunic. It got me thinking, hmm... what if I tried leggings?

So I made a little outing to Pea in the Pod and tried on some maternity leggings. And, well, I fell in love immediately.

I want to wear them everyday, but there's only one problem - I don't own any tunics. And these ladybits are definitely staying covered, thank you very much. So I've put in an order to Motherhood Maternity and picked up a way overpriced tunic from Pea in the Pod that I just loved (to be posted later) and am on my way to tunic + legging bliss.

But for all you non-pregnant ladies, I've found some regular leggings, which I will totally be buying post baby. Because, as I said, I'm a total leggings convert.

Velvet, $60

Reader Question: Make Your Ex Crazy Wedding Attire

Dear EWP:

I've got an evening wedding coming up in Austin, TX in early August. I've always known that this would be the first time I'd see my ex (and first love) since he quit returning my calls about a year ago, but I've just learned that I'll also be meeting his fiance there. Sweet. So obviously I have to look smoking hot. Maybe something so blindingly awesome that people don't notice if I start to cry?

Thanks,
Still Getting My Groove Back

Dear Still Getting My Groove Back,

This sounds like every girl's worst nightmare. I'm pretty sure if this happened to me, I'd try to make out with my husband the entire time to show I'm happily married and then Mr. EWP would push me away and go "Geez, we're at a wedding!" and thus ruin all my efforts to make my ex jealous. Thank God I don't have any ex's. Unless you count random people you make out with in bars....

But that is neither here nor there. Your faithful EWP is here for you in your time of need!

Now my recommendations here depend on a few things.

First, no matter how sexy an outfit I pick, if you are not comfortable wearing something like it, then don't get it. Confidence is the most sexy quality, and if you're fumbling with your hemline or tugging on your dress all night and looking uncomfortable, you're not achieving your maximum sexiness.

Second, your body type also affects what choice you make. Not all of these options will look good on everyone. I've tried to pick many options so there's something for every body type. Got great boobs? Wear something with cleavage. Got great legs? Keep it short and sassy. Got sexy curves? Go with a fitted sheath dress.

Third, the dress is not the only thing you need to be super hot. You've got to be the whole package - great hair, great makeup, and, above all else, great shoes. I envision some super hot high heels with any of these dresses to give you the ultimate sexy factor. I get a lot of pushback on my high heels directives, but, seriously, guys LOVE heels. And don't forget some cute jewelry!

Lastly, it all depends on what's sexy to you. If you're looking for classic feminine sexy, I've got options for you. If you're into short and sassy, I've got that too.

Hope one of these is what you're looking for. Good luck!
